Who is Madison, you may ask? Well, Madison is our town, and she is celebrating her 200th birthday this week. The city is filled will all sorts of events, and today was "Hilltop Day."
Madison is divided into two main parts- downtown and the hilltop. Downtown is full of historic homes and quaint shops that sit along the Ohio River. The hilltop has a main road, Clifty Drive, with a Wal-Mart, Lowe's, and every fastfood restaurant known to man. (Unfortunately, there is no Target, Meijer, or Starbucks.)
Tonight the kids and I went to "Cruisin' Clifty". (Mallory had to work.) We started at Kroger, where there was a petting zoo, hosted by a local farmer. John Mark has recently learned many animal names and sounds. So, when I saw the rooster, rabbits, goats and calf, I was thrilled for John Mark. He was intriguied by the roosters and was standing two feet from them when one decided to crow. At the top of his lungs, this rooster shouted, "Cock-A-Doodle-Doo!" John Mark screamed as if the rooster had just bitten his head off. After he calmed down, he did eventually pet the calf and goats, but wouldn't walk near the rooster cage.
We then made our way to the firehouse. The firemen were so kind to show him the truck and even take a photo of the three of us!
