We stole an idea from our friends, Dave and Katie, and took John Mark to play at Barnes and Noble. They recently did this with their son, John David, and we thought it was a great (and free!) idea.
Now, if you've been to visit us in Madison, you know that we don't have such a store.... hey, we don't even have a Target or Meijer! So, did we brave the snow and go to Louisville, where there are 600,000 people without power (last I heard)?
Heck, no! We left town on Tuesday evening, shortly after I posted the snow pictures. After watching the evening weather report, we were scared the conditions would only worsen and we wouldn't be able to leave. We had planned to come to Birmingham this weekend for my high school reunion, so we just adjusted our departure date to avoid the storm.
The drive wasn't easy, but we made it. About 3:15am, we arrived at mom and dad's house in Gardendale. We are thankful for the Lord's protection around our vehicle as we drove through not-so-ideal conditions.
John Mark had a great time playing with the train set at the bookstore. And, it was a great time for Mal and I to relax and unwind from an eventful evening!
